Description
Robin’s hands-on Ecollar training workshops are designed to aid pet owners in utilizing tools and techniques that foster a happy and harmonious relationship with their canine companions. The foundation workshop equips participants with the fundamental concepts necessary to develop reliable and enthusiastic trained responses from their dogs.
Foundation workshop participants will learn:
- Ecollar Basics: Proper Fit, Functions, and Safety concerns.
- Determining the Just Right™ level of stimulation.
- How and when to use the leash, verbal encouragement, body language, luring and shaping to assist the dog during collar conditioning.
- The key indicator used to determine if the dog is confused or being disobedient.
- How to tailor the training to fit their dog’s personality.
- How to begin proofing reliability and build impulse control around distractions.
- Dealing with nuisance problems like jumping up, mouthing, whining, etc.
- Training strategies that prevent the dog from becoming collar wise.
During the workshop participants will practice exercises that build the fundamental skills necessary to safely and successfully integrate remote collars into their training programs.
The Foundation Concepts Include:
Moving with you
This skill teaches your dog to pay attention and follow along. It is used to develop loose lead walking, a heel command and allows for eventual off leash ability so a dog remains aware of being in your orbit, rather than bolting or running off.
Holding a Place
This skill teaches your dog to settle and remain in one spot. It is used to build impulse control and improve your dog’s ability to hold steady around distractions. This versatile skill can also be used to build confidence and improve coordination.
Come to you
Having a dog that comes when called is essential for all off leash activities. It is also the single most valuable skill for keeping a dog safe. Participants will focus heavily on recall training during the foundation workshop.
In Addition participants will discover:
- Management strategies to utilize until training goals are met.
- Changes in a dog’s daily routine that enhance training and develop good manners.
- Steadying techniques to use for basic handling and grooming.
- How our touch, voice and body language influences the dog’s behavior.
- How to minimize possessive behavior and build trust.
- Which rewards are most valuable to your dog and how to use them effectively.
This workshop is perfect for anyone new to ecollar training, but even experienced users have also found valuable insights to add to their toolbox!
