New Jersey Dog Trainer shares success story about small dogs and e-collar training

Today’s guest post is from professional dog trainer,  Andi Watson of EZ Dog Training.

Hi, Everyone: I have been asked, and quite frankly have wondered from time to time, “How small is too small for a dog to wear or use an e-collar?”  Well, I have just signed my youngest and smallest client, Milli(meter), a 4 pound, 11 week old Beagle pup that is making Swiss cheese out of her owners’, as well as their 4 year old son’s arms, fingers, and legs.  Ouch!

After meeting with Milli’s family and having referred them to “The Truth About Shock Collars” they were ready and willing to use a remote collar as our training tool in conjunction with good ole’ clear communication and consistency.  Milli learned “off” and “leave-it” at her first lesson while having fun!  All I can say now is, if her people want Swiss cheese, they are going to have to go to the market to buy it.

As a side note, I decided to use the Tritronics Sport Jr. remote collar (the smallest I had in stock) which fits nicely on Milli’s neck as you can see from the pictures.  It is business, I mean play, as usual for Milli.  However, she has willingly and happily given up fingers, toes, arms, legs, socks, shoes, and is happy with her puppy toys and leaves : )

Regards,

  • I know e-collars are the simplist, easist and most humane way to get any dogs full attention. They work on tiny dachounds, poodles, yorkshire terriers, mini schnausers as well as the giant breeds. It is all about getting their attention and keeping it with communication. You all so need a trainer that has been trained in the use of the e-collar or you will not get the proper result and may cause your pup to be fearful of the collar if it is used for punishment. We do not punish our dogs, we communicate with them with proper training and the e-collar to enchance that comunication. The collar is just a tool the training with a qalified trainer is the key to having a happy, healthy pet you can take anywhere and be proud ot be seen with. More freedom for you and your dog.
