The Remote Collar – An Important Tool in my Dog Training Tool Box

I asked some of my colleagues if they would mind sharing their stories of how and why they began incorporating the remote collar into their training protocols. My good friend, Michael Burkey had this to say:

Electronic training collars; One woman weighs in.

Opinions abound about electronic training collars. Actually, opinions are plentiful about dogs and training in general. A quick search reveals  loads of information to read and sift through. But it always nice to hear opinions about “stuff” right from the horses mouth. If you’re considering purchasing a breed of dog isn’t it nice to talk to people that live with that breed? Or if you’re wondering about a medical procedure for you dog, it is nice to hear from others […]

Marley: E-collar helps him go from anxious-aggressive dog to happy and content pet

A headline that claims an e-collar can help a dog go from anxious and aggressive to happy and content may seem hard to believe for some. But for those in the know, it is a common occurrence. I suspect the bigger question about using the e-collar to work with dog’s like Marley is why does it work so well? Science is going to have to jump in and provide more research but it is my opinion that using a low-level […]

Shelter Dog happy with “shock collar” training.

Here at The Truth About Shock Collars I receive many e-mails containing stories, photos, testimonials and questions about the use of electronic collars. These notes come from dog owners around the globe, people just like you and I who love their dogs and want what is best for them. I don’t edit the stories, questions or information, I just give it to you straight up, as is. So even though those scary words, “shock collar” are used again in the […]

Remote Dog Collar Training: Five minutes to improve your dog’s behavior

My friend, Michael, from Michigan Dog Trainer shared another video on recent success with remote dog collar training. This one titled “Five minute Wyatt” demonstrates how quickly a dog can grasp the concept of how to walk with out pulling on leash when using an electronic collar to assist with the teaching. I want to make it clear that we are not trying to say that the e-collar is magic or that learning remote dog collar training is the be […]

Can you use a remote dog training collar on a sensitive or over reactive dog?

Another testimonial from satisfied e-collar users. This one from a couple in Fort Wayne, IN who found help with Clarice at Flying Colors Canine. It is always nice to hear from owners of small dogs regarding their success with the remote collar. It is even nicer to hear how successful the training was for a dog considered sensitive to correction.

E-collar dog training: Have your cake and eat it too.

The e-collar is only for lazy dog trainers and dog owners right? I am sure you’ve either heard that one before or perhaps you’ve thought it. After all, if all you have to do is push a button

Should only professionals be allowed to use electronic training collars?

My friends in the UK at BritishDog sent this note over as an example of the feedback they get from their clients regarding purchasing electronic training collars. British Dog carries a variety of dog training collars & equipment, toys, and dog gear. Our e-mail correspondence started when Wales passed a ban on remote training collars. We were discussing the absurdity of such bans and how limiting tool options doesn’t solve the problem of people become frustrated with their pets and […]

Two weeks of remote collar training turn mischeivious mates into precious pups again.

How long should it take to have well well-trained, well-behaved dog? For the Earl family, it was eight years of challenges before they found the proper training and techniques to turn their two into a more mannerly duo. However, once they learned about how the electronic collar could help them, it was only two weeks until the problems were solved. They were then on the way to the more enjoyable life they had envisioned with their dogs.

YIKES! What to do when you are the owner of THAT dog!!! (or: a case for the remote collar)

Another testimonial  from a family happy they learned how a remote collar could help them with their dog. It sounds like these folks were at the end of their rope and Buddy would of lost his home soon if a solution wasn’t found. I love this story cause we all know THAT dog!  Some of us have also owned THAT dog! The good new is, THAT dog can be fixed. What does it take to fix THAT dog?
